This website started as a research paper for an independent study at ITP. There is an overwhelming amount of information in the marine sciences and visualization available online, so much that it is difficult to digest. Here, I have organized the information in a format that is easily accessible for beginners. Having no background in the sciences, I have approached the topic as a newcomer and have organized the information on the site in a way that is easy for me to understand. Hopefully it will be the same for you. I hope it will be a valuable resource for those interested in pursuing visualization in the marine sciences. Here is the proposal for the study when I first began this Fall:

An investigation into relevant technologies used for visualization in the Marine Sciences. Tools used to gather data, and methods used for presentation of complex data will be covered. Examples of topics may include Underwater Terrain Visualization, Bathymetry, Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, and Ecosystem modeling.

I have organized the website into two sections: observation tools and visualizations.
